PERSONAL INJURY: MAN KILLED IN HEAD-ON COLLISION

On behalf of The Law Office of David Hunt LTD April 24, 2018

It only takes a moment for lives to be tragically altered. When the irresponsibility of one person’s actions results in harm and pain to others, that individual may be deemed negligent. When a person is found liable in a civil court, they will be responsible for the monetary damages incurred by their personal injury victims. Sadly, one Illinois family is suffering the tragic consequences of one man’s unfortunate decisions to allegedly operate his vehicle intoxicated.

Allegedly, a 22-year-old man was operating his pickup truck while under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred. Authorities believe that he was driving southbound in northbound lanes when he crashed into the victim’s sedan. Both vehicles rolled over as a result of the impact.

Sadly, the 27-year-man driving the sedan suffered serious injuries, and he was declared dead at the scene of the accident. An autopsy of the victim confirmed that the man died as a result of the accident. The other driver also suffered some injuries, but he is expected to survive. He is expected to face criminal charges.

In cases such as this one, victims are often survived by family members who are left to grieve their loved one’s loss. While they are grieving, they often have to process burial decisions, expenses and a multitude of other cascading effects that the death may impact. Personal injury attorneys in Illinois can assist families in understanding their resources to pursue recovery of all applicable monetary damages. Some options include filing against the victim’s own insurance or filing a wrongful death lawsuit in civil court against presumed negligent parties.
